There are four (4) varieties of green coffee beans while there could be five (5) to ten (10) origins per bean variety. The four varieties are:

  • Arabica
  • Robusta
  • Liberica
  • Exelsa

ROBUSTA is also considered a lowland coffee. It is also called a filler coffee.  It is normally used to make instant coffee. Among all the coffee varieties, it has the highest caffeine content and has the most woody, bold,  bitter taste. Presently,  Robusta is the most prevalent coffee variety in the Philippines. Maragusan is in Compostela Valley, Mindanao.
