There are four (4) varieties of green coffee beans while there could be five (5) to ten (10) origins per bean variety. The four varieties are:

  • Arabica
  • Robusta
  • Liberica
  • Exelsa

The roasted coffee beans have different grades of roasting namely:

  • Light Grade Roasting
  • Medium Grade Roasting
  • Medium Dark Grade Roasting
  • Dark Grade Roasting

PHILIPPINE ARABICA is a highland coffee from 1,000 – 1,600 meters above  sea level. The Philippines has five species of Arabica – Tipica,  Ramona and  Bourbon  predominantly found in Cordillera.  Whereas,  Meisor  and  Catimor  are mostly found in Mindanao.

Generally, Arabica from Cordillera has acidic and winey taste . Aroma is mildly sweet.  The farmers use both the dry and wet process method. However,  with the present private-public initiatives, the farmers now are starting to understand  the advantages of using the wet process method.

Recommended roast is medium to medium dark.
